08/17/04 — A new government survey finds that sports utility vehicles may be more dangerous than originally believed.
According to a survey conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drivers of small and medium-sized SUVs are now 11 percent more likely to die than someone in a car.
This safety gap is the widest ever recorded.
Researchers say SUVs can be prone to roll over - and that can make them more dangerous.
